North Dakota: Original song by Nina nastasia {shot and directed by me, winter 2025}

Invocation

Sing to me of the girl,
of the wandering, and the accepting and the bold,
Tell me about the girl who found out she was getting old.
Can she clasp every precious memory?
Every single laugh, site, and day?
Before it all slipped away?

She doesn't have much time to write her little rhymes,
to sing with them, fling with them,
engrain them in the time
So she cuts her tasks at the hem,
she will have to prioritize them
Things she needs vs. things she wants,
things to avoid vs. things that haunt
She has a plan of what to do
before her final breath is through.

And as she steps back from the list,
she ponders if there's something she missed.
Maybe it's not about fitting it all in,
every win and sin sorted perfectly in a bin
Maybe she needs to let things come,
big, little, whatever the sum
She wants to enjoy every moment she can,
even the dullest like washing a pan
There's as much magic in that as there is in a kiss,
and it's too much to contain on a list

Let it all come, one by one or in a jumble,
and if she happens to skip a step and stumble
So be it, she'll see it, and breath it, kneel before it
She'll do everything that she can to explore it
And very soon, she'll be all done, with a final look she can say she's won
Whether it ends under stars or under the sun It doesn't really matter when the day is done.
